What to Do After a Car Accident
Accidents can occur anywhere and at any time. Therefore, we must always be prepared for anything. Those involved in car accidents understand how important it is to be prepared. Now that you have this newfound awareness, you are in a better position to protect yourself.
- Collecting as much information as possible is essential at the scene of an accident. Exchange information with the other parties involved, if applicable.
- Immediately report this to the authorities and do not admit fault. A copy of the accident report can be obtained from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or the police station where the report was filed within a few days. You must submit it together with your claim.
- Collect as much information as you can on potential witnesses. Quickly get their names and contact information.
- Find a doctor right now. Get medical attention if you’ve been hurt, even if you don’t think you need it.
- The insurance provider must be informed. Only settle with other insurance companies once you have spoken with our California car accident lawyers.
