A driver was killed while a passenger was injured after a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 242 near Concord on Sunday morning, July 2, 2023.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on the southbound lanes of Highway 242, near the Concord Avenue off-ramp, at around 1:54 a.m.
A blue Nissan Sentra with two occupants was traveling southbound on the highway when it struck a guardrail. The front passenger was ejected from the vehicle during the course of the crash.
Thankfully, the passenger survived the crash. However, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The surviving passenger was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.
No information was released regarding the identities of the people involved and the victim’s condition, pending an investigation.
