[07-03-2023] 49-Year-Old Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Car Collision at Chicago & Ellen AvenueA male pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a car at an intersection in Merced on Monday evening, July 3, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Ellen Avenue around 7:20 p.m.

A Ford was traveling northbound on Chicago Avenue, crossing Paradise Road, and turning right into Ellen Avenue when it struck the pedestrian crossing Ellen Avenue from east to west.

Officers found the victim on the roadway of Ellen Avenue and proceeded with life-saving measures before taking him to Modesto Hospital for treatment. The driver, reportedly wearing his seatbelt, was unharmed.

No information was released regarding the identities of the people involved in this incident.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a contributing factor in this incident.
