[07-04-2023] Hit-and-Run Driver Leaves 20-Year-Old Cyclist Critically Injured in Fountain ValleyCaysen R., 20,  was severely injured after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle while riding his bicycle in Fountain Valley on Tuesday evening, July 4, 2023.

According to the Fountain Valley Police Department, the accident occurred just before 10:30 p.m. on Bushard Street.

The report said Robinson was traveling north on Bushard Street within the designated bicycle lane when a vehicle in the same direction struck him.

Following the collision, the victim was promptly transported to a hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition. Robinson underwent life-saving heart surgery and also had his broken leg repaired. Additional medical procedures are scheduled for the coming days.

The driver behind the collision fled the scene and is currently at large.

Authorities dispatched traffic investigators to the scene to gather evidence. Preliminary findings suggest that the vehicle involved in the incident may be a 2014-2019 Toyota Highlander.

The investigation is ongoing.
