[07-10-2023] 2 People Killed, 1 Injured Following Three-Vehicle Head-On Crash in ByronTwo people were killed, while one was injured after a three-vehicle collision in Byron, Contra Costa County, on Monday morning, July 10, 2023.

According to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the incident occurred on Vasco and Walnut Roads around 6:38 a.m.

On Vasco Road, a silver Honda Fit and a silver Nissan Altima were traveling southbound with one occupant each, and a grey Acura Integra was traveling northbound with one occupant. The Nissan collided with the Honda’s rear, then traveled into the northbound lane and collided head-on with the Acura.

An air ambulance was requested at the scene, but unfortunately, the drivers of the Nissan and Acura were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda survived and was brought to a hospital with minor injuries.

It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in this incident.
