A 26-year-old, Austun C., a motorcycle rider from Hemet, died from severe injuries after a motorcycle crash in Valle Vista Friday evening.
The accident happened west of New Chicago Avenue on Acacia Avenue around 9:15 p.m.
The 2012 Yamaha vehicle of Cooley was traveling at high speed on the eastbound Acacia when he came upon the pickup truck.
According to Officer Jeffrey O., Cooley saw the truck across both lanes, threw his vehicle onto its side to stop, and then slid into the pickup with his motorcycle.
The rider passed away at the Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
According to Osteen, there are no street lights on the section of the road where the collision happened.
The 34-year-old pickup driver was unharmed. After dialing 911, paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department arrived on the scene quickly and discovered Cooley to be in critical condition.
The pickup driver was interrogated but not detained.
The motorcyclist may have been under the influence of alcohol, but autopsy results have not been confirmed.
An investigation was still being looked into.
