According to the police, a mother of four is in the hospital with all of her children injured after a pickup truck driver collided with the RV she was driving on Friday, July 15, 2022.
According to authorities, the mother is identified as Michelle Plaketta from North County. Her four children and the family dog were inside the RV at the time of the collision on California Highway 371 near Kirby Road in Anza.
Her 17-year-old daughter and the family dog were thrown from the RV after it collided with a pickup truck and rolled over. When the accident occurred, her daughter and the dog slept in the bed above the cab.
The girl was taken to the hospital and treated for bruising and abrasions before being released. She has a broken toe and a severe road rash that extends from her shoulders to her waist. The other three children in the RV were only slightly hurt.
Plaketta stated that the collision occurred when the pickup driver pulled out from a stop sign and attempted to turn left in front of the RV.
She is still in the hospital in Palm Springs, recovering from a broken leg.
Prince, the family’s ten-year-old dog, was killed.
This is the second time the family has experienced the loss of a pet.
