Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Many drivers are unaware that single-vehicle collisions are among California’s most dangerous types of vehicle accidents.
62% of all fatal vehicle collisions in California involve a single vehicle, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Drivers must be aware of the various contributing factors due to California’s high rate of single-vehicle accidents.
A single-vehicle collision can happen for a number of reasons. A run-off-the-road collision happens when a driver loses control of their car while speeding or making sudden turns on a slick, wet road. On the road, there may be debris, such as a big branch or something that fell off a truck.
In a single-car accident that wasn’t your fault or the fault of another driver, like when a deer jumped in front of your car, your comprehensive coverage plan will probably place a cap on your recovery.
Placer County Car Accident Lawyers
Due to their injuries, many car accident victims cannot go back to work or school. A negligent driver is still accountable even if a victim dies. Victim’s heirs may bring a wrongful death claim against the negligent driver who brought about their death (or legal heirs).
For them, experiencing their losses and grief again is painful. In depositions and trials, victims must testify about their losses in front of strangers. One’s mental health may suffer greatly if a case takes months or even years to resolve.
Holding a negligent driver accountable if they cause an accident is essential. Accountability is crucial when negligence results in an unnecessarily high death toll. For grieving families, wrongful death claims can be emotionally taxing but can also bring about closure. This will benefit every driver in California.
