[07-21-2023] Person Loses Arm After Being Struck by Train in AntiochA person lost an arm after being struck by a train in Antioch on Friday morning, July 21, 2023.

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Antioch Police Department responded to the accident in A Street near W 2nd Street by 9:50 a.m.

The cause of the accident is undetermined. In the initial reports, the pedestrian appeared conscious and breathing. The victim’s arm was amputated in an updated location on E 6th Street.

As authorities had the amputated arm and requested a cooler with ice, the medical helicopter landed in a nearby field to transport the person to a local hospital.

The victim was described as being in his late 20s. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, so no further information was available.
