According to the Department of California Highway Patrol, one person died in a single-vehicle crash with unsafe speed on a rainy day Monday, July 25, 2022.
According to Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 7:15 p.m. on Interstate 8 near Inkopah Road.
An investigation revealed that Chrysler’s driver had been traveling at an unsafe speed when they lost control of the vehicle, slammed into a guardrail, and overturned on the shoulder.
The 23-year-old female passenger in the car suffered fatal injuries, but the other two passengers were taken to UCSF Medical Center.
Although the investigation is still ongoing, the California Highway Patrol notes that both parties were wearing seat belts and that alcohol did not appear to contribute.
Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Single-vehicle collisions are among the most dangerous collisions that can happen in a vehicle in the state of California, even though most drivers are unaware of this fact.
In California, single-vehicle accidents account for 62% of all fatal auto accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Drivers in California are responsible for being knowledgeable about the numerous factors that contribute to the high rate of accidents involving a single vehicle.
Many different things can lead to a single vehicle collision. A run-off-the-road collision occurs when a driver loses control of their vehicle and veers off the road at high speeds or makes sharp turns on a wet, slick road. There’s a chance that the road is covered in trash, like a big branch or something that a truck threw.
Your comprehensive coverage plan will probably place limitations on the amount of money you can recover from the accident if you were in a single-car collision that wasn’t your fault or the fault of another driver, such as if a deer ran in front of your car.
Imperial County Car Accident Lawyers
Many accident victims cannot resume their jobs or studies after their injuries. The driver was negligent and is still liable even if the victim dies. The victim’s heirs may bring a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent driver responsible for their passing (or legal heirs).
They are distressed by having to relive their grief and losses. In trials and depositions, victims are required to testify in front of strangers about their losses. One’s mental health may suffer greatly if a case is unresolved for months or even years.
When negligent drivers cause an accident, holding them accountable is imperative. Accountability is crucial when negligence causes an excessively high death toll. Suing for wrongful death can be emotionally draining for grieving families but can also bring about closure. This will benefit every driver in California.
