Car Accident Statistics

California attracts visitors and new residents who want to experience the many attractions the Golden State offers. While this benefits the state’s economy, it negatively impacts its highways, which are heavily populated and lead to a high number of motor vehicle accidents yearly.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), California had the second-highest number of fatal collisions in the country in 2017: 3,304. Texas came in the first place. Part of the reason for this is that California has a far denser population than, for instance, Nebraska, which had just 210 fatal collisions in 2017.

Accidents occur, and when they do, you may have to deal with auto repairs, injuries, and possibly an increase in your insurance premium. Safe driving will help keep you and your family safe.
