Multi-Vehicle Collision Statistics

In California, many people drive, and public transportation hasn’t kept up with the state’s major cities’ soaring populations. On our roads, car accidents seem almost inevitable.

There was a multi-vehicle collision in this instance. A multi-vehicle crash typically involves three vehicles or more. “Chain reaction” crashes frequently result from collisions between cars that later cause those cars to strike other moving objects on the road.

The majority of multiple-vehicle accidents involve moving traffic on busy highways at high speeds. The possibility of serious injuries increases if the accident involves fast-moving vehicles.

According to a new National Highway Traffic Safety Administration analysis, multi-vehicle accidents make up more than 40% of all car accidents, resulting in about 13,000 fatalities yearly (NHTSA).

If you are in a car accident, carefully apply the brakes to slow down and steer into something soft, like a bush or a guardrail, rather than into another vehicle. Additionally, keep an eye out for anyone who might be wandering the area after an accident has occurred.
