[08-03-2023] Six People Killed, Including Infant and Unborn Child, After Fiery Crash in View Park-Windsor HillsSix people were killed, including an infant and an unborn child, while eight others were injured after a fiery multi-vehicle collision caused by a reckless driver in View Park-Windsor Hills, Los Angeles County, on Thursday afternoon, August 3, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident at the intersection of La Brea and Slauson Avenues around 1:30 p.m.

A Mercedes-Benz barreled down La Brea at high speed. After running a red light, the Mercedes rammed into several cars in the intersection, caught fire, and hurtled into a light pole. The crash involved at least six vehicles, three in flames, as the fire blazed on the ground.

A total of eight people were injured, including six teenagers. One person sustained significant injuries, while seven others sustained minor injuries. The patients were treated at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

The initial death toll was reported to be five. A pregnant woman, an infant, and an unborn child were among them. An additional person’s remains were found inside one of the burned vehicles, adding to the toll.

The deceased pregnant woman was identified as 23-year-old Asherey R. There was no further information on the other victims.

Nicole L., a 37-year-old registered nurse, was identified as the suspect. The woman sustained unknown injuries and was being treated at a local hospital. She was also arrested and will be charged with vehicular manslaughter.

The families of five victims wept as they buried their loved ones. In their expressions of hurt, they lamented the killings of their sister, nephews, and brother-in-law. According to them, her son’s only cousins were his nephews.

As part of their investigation, authorities check Linton’s blood work for signs of impairment.
