A person was injured after a two-vehicle head-on collision involving a DUI driver in Petaluma on Monday evening, August 7, 2023.
According to the Petaluma Police Department, the incident occurred in the area of Stony Point Road and Petaluma Boulevard North at around 8:40 p.m.
Douglas G., a 70-year-old Petaluma resident, was driving westbound on the boulevard while another motorist was driving southbound in the left turn lane. Douglas took a wide turn into Stony Point Road and crossed into the southbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision.
A record check revealed that Douglas’ license had been suspended due to a previous DUI. A DUI investigation was conducted after the investigating officer observed objective signs of intoxication in him.
Upon completing the DUI investigation, the driver was arrested for a DUI collision causing injury and driving with a suspended license.
The Petaluma Fire Department paramedics evaluated the victim and brought them to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.
