A 23-year-old man was killed after a pedestrian vs. vehicle collision in Santa Ana on Wednesday evening, August 7, 2024.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. along Main Street near 15th Street.

SAPD said that 23-year-old Peter M. from Anaheim was riding his skateboard southbound along the western curb of Main Street when, for some reason, he was struck by a vehicle traveling the same way. The impact of the crash threw the skateboarder to the ground, knocking him out cold and severely injuring him.

Police and Orange County Fire Authority paramedics responded to the scene and found the victim lying in the roadway. He was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Authorities confirmed that alcohol or drugs did not appear to be contributing factors in the collision.
