Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Many drivers are unaware that single-vehicle collisions are among California’s most hazardous car collisions.

62% of all fatal vehicle collisions in California involve a single vehicle, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Due to the high frequency of single-vehicle accidents in California, drivers must be aware of the various contributing factors.

A variety of factors can bring on a single-vehicle collision. A run-off-the-road crash happens when a driver loses control of their car while speeding or making sudden turns on a slick, wet road. On the road, there may be debris, such as a big branch or something that fell off a truck.

In a single-car accident that wasn’t your fault or the fault of another driver, like when a deer jumped in front of your car, your comprehensive coverage plan will probably place a cap on your recovery.

El Dorado County Car Accident Lawyers

Many people who are injured in car accidents are unable to go back to work or school as a result of their wounds. The death of a victim does not relieve a negligent driver of responsibility for their actions. The victim’s surviving family members may bring a wrongful death claim against the driver who was at fault for the victim’s passing (or legal heirs).

Reliving their losses and grief is painful for them. In depositions and trials, victims must testify about their failures in front of strangers. A case may not be resolved for months or even years, which can harm one’s mental health.

If a driver causes an accident, it is crucial to hold them responsible. Accountability is essential when negligence causes an excessively high death toll. Wrongful death lawsuits can be emotionally taxing for grieving families but can also bring about closure. All California drivers will gain from this.
