Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Many people driving in California are unaware that accidents involving just one car can be among the deadliest collisions.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that the vast majority of fatal car accidents in California involve only one vehicle. Drivers in California need to be aware of the myriad factors contributing to the state’s high rate of accidents involving a single vehicle.

A number of different things can bring on a collision involving a single vehicle. When drivers engage in risky behaviors, such as speeding or making sharp turns on slippery roads, they increase the likelihood that their vehicles will flee the scene. The road is littered with branches and debris, many of which were knocked over by vehicles.

Consider a scenario in which only one vehicle is involved in the accident, and neither of you is found to be at fault for the incident. Because of this, your comprehensive auto insurance coverage will almost certainly go down as a direct consequence of the change.

Accident victims frequently are unable to resume their jobs or higher education institutions. Even though reckless driving has the potential to cause another person’s death, it is still a crime. Wrongful death lawsuits against reckless drivers who killed victims may be brought by the victims or beneficiaries of their estates.

Reminiscing about their losses and grieving processes is painful. During depositions and court proceedings, a victim’s loss must be described to strangers. Legal issues that are not promptly resolved may have an adverse effect on a person’s mental health.

An investigation must identify the driver who caused a car accident as soon as possible. There are many fatalities due to inattention, which need to be addressed. Even though wrongful death claims can be challenging to pursue, they can benefit grieving families. This change will have a significant effect on drivers in California.
