DUI COLLISION STATISTICS

Despite the authorities’ efforts to crack down on drunk driving, intoxicated drivers continue to endanger road users. The CDC estimates that over 10,000 people were killed in California car accidents involving drunk drivers between 2005 and 2012.

There were 1,059 fatal DUI accidents in 2016, a 16.2 percent increase from 2015.

Driving while impaired by alcohol can have serious consequences. Alcohol impairs your judgment, slows your reaction time, and can cause you to overcorrect while driving, leading to an accident. Even though drunk driving is illegal in all states, one person dies in a car accident every 45 minutes due to a fatal DUI collision.
