[08-11-2023] Two-Vehicle DUI Collision Leaves 2-Year-Old Child Injured in SylmarA 2-year-old child was injured after a collision between two vehicles caused by a DUI driver in Los Angeles on Friday morning, August 11, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident on northbound lanes of Interstate 5, south of Highway 14 and the Newhall Pass in the Sylmar area around 1:00 a.m.

What led to the crash remains unclear, but a 2-year-old child may have been ejected. The child was gravely injured, suffered cardiac arrest, and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Two adults, the mother and father, were in the vehicle with the child. Inside the suspect vehicle was a driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.

There were no other injuries reported. The identities of the people involved were not released.

An arrest has been made in connection with the crash investigation.
