[08-13-2022] Plumas County, CA - 29-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck by E-bike on Highway 70A 29-year-old pedestrian identified as Joey M. was struck by an e-bike on Highway 70 on Saturday, August 13.

The crash occurred around 9:10 p.m. on the shoulder of Highway 70, just west of Claremont Drive.

Alejandro C., 39, of Quincy, was operating a Mountain Forest E-bike at an unknown speed.

Marrero, also of Quincy, was strolling along the road’s shoulder in an easterly direction.

The California Highway Patrol claims that Cipriano did not see Marrero in front of him because he was riding his bicycle at an unsafe speed for the surrounding circumstances (dark lighting, pedestrian traffic).

Marrero was struck by Cipriano’s bike from behind, sending Cipriano flying over the handlebars. Cipriano fell and hit his head.

Both parties left the road and went to the Valero parking lot, where they dialed 911 and awaited the arrival of emergency services.

Cipriano wasn’t wearing a helmet when this accident happened.
