A 25-year-old woman was killed in a fatal head-on collision near Fall River Mills on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

[08-13-2022] Shasta County, CA - 25-Year-Old Woman Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 299The crash occurred on a Saturday morning on Highway 299 just west of Fall River Mills.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the unnamed Montgomery Creek resident crossed over the double yellow lines in her 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt on Highway 299 close to Pit No. 1 Powerhouse Road.

The woman’s car struck a 2014 Peterbilt Truck Tractor towing an empty flatbed trailer.

According to the CHP, she was traveling west at a speed of 55 to 60 miles per hour. The truck was moving at a speed of roughly 45 miles per hour in the east.

According to the CHP, neither the truck’s 26-year-old driver Jose R. nor its 50-year-old passenger Vincent R. sustained any wounds.

The CHP reported that alcohol was not a factor.

The woman, however, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
