[08-14-2022] Los Angeles County, CA - One Person Riding a Moped Injured in Hit-and-Run in Downtown LAAccording to the authorities, a Mini Cooper struck a restaurant worker from behind on a moped before fleeing in downtown Los Angeles Sunday, August 14, 2022.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash occurred at about 12:35 a.m on westbound Third Street and Flower streets.

Reports say that Miguel Velazquez, 20, was stopped at a red light when a car, which police said was a royal blue Mini Cooper with a sunroof and was going west on Third Street, came up behind him and hit the moped from behind, sending the small scooter and Velazquez flying.

The driver of the Mini Cooper briefly stopped at the intersection and then kept going.

Velazquez said three people helped him get to the curb, and some went after the car that hit him. A witness also took a video of the driver leaving the scene, police said.

The city of Los Angeles has given up to $25,000 for information that helps solve a hit-and-run accident that didn’t kill anyone.

Police said that the driver of the Mini Cooper was a black-haired man in his 40s.
