Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Many drivers are unaware that single-vehicle collisions are among the most dangerous auto accidents in California.

62% of all fatal auto accidents in California involve a single vehicle, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Drivers must be knowledgeable of the various contributing factors due to the high rate of single-vehicle accidents in California.

A single-vehicle collision can be caused by a number of things. A driver loses control of their car while speeding or making sudden turns on a slick, wet road, which results in a run-off-the-road collision. On the road, there may be debris like a big branch or something that fell off a truck.

If a single-car collision is brought on by an event that is neither your fault nor the fault of another driver, like a deer darting in front of your car, your comprehensive coverage plan will probably place a cap on your recovery.
