[08-17-2023] Kings County, CA – 47-Year-Old Man Died, 2 Others Injured Following Two-Vehicle Collision Involving Transtar Truck near Corcoran

A 47-year-old Tipton man was killed, while two others were injured after a two-vehicle collision involving a Transtar truck near Corcoran on Thursday afternoon, August 17, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on the southbound lanes of Highway 43, north of Avenue 120, that afternoon.

A 2007 Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on the highway approaching Avenue 120 at approximately 50 mph. The truck driver was traveling northbound on the highway approaching Avenue 120 at approximately 55 mph.

The Nissan slowed down and turned left, right onto the truck’s path. Due to the proximity between the two vehicles, a crash was unavoidable, and the front of the truck struck the right side of the Nissan. The truck proceeded northeast and hit a dirt berm while the Nissan came to a halt on the east dirt shoulder of the highway.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two other passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The truck driver was not injured in the incident.

No information was released regarding the identities of the people involved.
