[08-19-2022] Sonoma County, CA – Two People Seriously Injured Following Car Crash in Sebastopol

Four teenagers were taken to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, two of whom had major but non-life-threatening wounds, from a rollover car accident on Sebastopol’s High School Road on Friday night, August 19.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer David deRutte, the crash occurred at 10:03 p.m. in front of 1460 High School Road, about a mile north of West County High School.

According to him, the fourth person was taken to the hospital out of caution after the third had only minor injuries.

According to deRutte, four of the five passengers in the Toyota Sequoia SUV, all male teenagers aged between 13 and 17, lost control of the vehicle while driving at a high rate of speed. The road’s posted speed limit is 45 mph.

The car flipped several times on the road before coming back to rest on its wheels. He claimed that the individuals being taken to the hospital were passengers.

DeRutte stated that the driver was cooperative and was just going a little too fast.

DeRutte believed that impairment was not a factor.
