Multiple injuries were reported on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass due to a collision involving three vehicles on Sunday morning, August 21, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Fire Department received calls about a collision around 10:18 a.m. on the northbound I-15 just after the Kenwood Avenue onramp.
A white BMW sedan, a black Tesla Model 3, and a black Chrysler 300 sedan were the three vehicles involved in the collision.
When they arrived, firefighters discovered a BMW blocking the #1 lane with significant front-end damage.
The Tesla was also partially blocked by damage in lane #1. The Chrysler had major front-end damage and was obstructing the #2 and #3 lanes.
Even though only one ambulance was required, the rescue crews requested two.
One BMV employee with unspecified injuries was taken by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital.
The other parties sustained only minor injuries.
There are no other details available.
The Inland Office of the California Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics
The state’s booming economy is directly causing an increase in traffic accidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 3,304 fatalities on American roads in 2010.
The risks of driving in California, however, are substantial. If the drivers involved had been more careful, those collisions might have been avoided. Over 94% of accidents are the result of carelessness on the part of humans.
Injuries sustained in car accidents can range from being extremely unpleasant to being fatal. Sadly, the regularity with which road accidents occur makes it easy for drivers to become desensitized to the risks they face.
It is called a multi-vehicle collision when three or more cars are involved in an accident. If two cars collide head-on, there may be a pileup involving six vehicles.
A new report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that more than 13,000 people were killed in accidents involving multiple vehicles in 2010.
San Bernardino County Car Accident Lawyers
When only two vehicles were involved, prosecuting the drivers is less complicated. When there are multiple cars damaged in an accident, finding a solution can take more time.
Finding the cause becomes more of a challenge. It’s possible that many lives would have been lost if two or more cars had collided.
It may be unwise to rely on an insurance company if the details of what caused a multi-vehicle crash are still unclear. Expecting an insurance company to settle your claim quickly is unrealistic, as doing so would be detrimental to their bottom line.
