Reckless Driving Accident Statistics

When drivers are rude or careless while driving, they put other people’s lives in danger for no reason. People who did nothing wrong should not be hurt by careless drivers. When drivers do this, they should be held accountable for the injuries and deaths they cause.

Aggressive driving is a major cause of car accidents, road rage, and many deaths on U.S. roads every year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that aggressive driving is when someone does a number of moving traffic violations to put other people or their property in danger.

Aggressive driving is hard to measure, but a 2009 study by the American Automobile Association found that it was a factor in 56% of fatal crashes from 2003 to 2007. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatal Accident Reporting System says that going too fast is the most common cause.

In California, if you drive without paying attention, you are breaking the law or putting yourself in danger. People often use the words “reckless,” “careless,” and “impaired” to mean the same thing. No matter what you call it, the chances of a serious car accident are much higher.

In 2016, 3,623 people died in car accidents in California, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This is a lot more than the number in 2010. (2,720). 1,589 people died because they were driving drunk, and 1,056 died because they were going too fast.

Nevada County Car Accident Lawyers

The law of negligence is what most car accident cases are based on. But if the accident was caused by reckless driving, your California reckless driving accident lawyer will try to show that the other driver was at fault by showing that they did something on purpose. This is called “negligence per se.” You choose to do things like drive while drunk or high, which puts you at a higher risk of having bad things happen to you.

Since reckless driving is against the law in California and negligence per se means breaking the law, a pedestrian, passenger, or other road user who get hurt may be able to prove that the driver was negligent per se. In either case, to have a strong case, you need the training and experience of a California reckless driving accident lawyer.

Because accidents can be so bad, Arash Law wants drivers to avoid them as much as possible. Instead, we help people who have been hurt by a careless driver or who have lost a loved one get paid for their injuries or loss.
