According to authorities, an unidentified pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Indio on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
According to Indio Police Department spokesman Ben Guitron, the crash occurred around 11:40 p.m. on Indio Boulevard, southeast of Van Buren Street.
According to Guitron, the Toyota Scion driver cooperated with the police and stated that the pedestrian was on the road when the accident occurred.
Alcohol was not thought to have contributed to the accident, he continued.
Guitron reported that when the police arrived, they discovered an adult male who was not identified lying on the ground and had already been pronounced dead.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office was conducting an investigation to identify the victim.
According to Guitron, the Indio Boulevard southeast lanes were shut down for about five hours.
