[08-24-2022] Alameda County, CA – Two People Killed in Fatal Car Crash in Oakland

The California Highway Patrol officials reported that two people died in a fiery collision on state Highway 13 southbound in Oakland early on Wednesday morning, August 24, 2022.

The collision was first reported at 3:33 a.m. on the east side of the city, close to the Redwood Road off-ramp.

According to CHP officials’ preliminary investigation, the two occupants of the vehicle were traveling south when it struck the guardrail on the right shoulder before crashing into some trees.

The collision caused the car to burst into flames. While officers conducted their investigation, the far-right lane of the highway was closed. The CHP stated that Since then, the lane had been reopened.

The Alameda County coroner’s bureau did not disclose either person’s name because their next of kin hadn’t been notified yet.
