[08-24-2022] Riverside County, CA – One Person Dead in Two-Vehicle Collision in Temecula

[08-24-2022] One Person Dead in Two-Vehicle Collision in TemeculaAccording to the authorities, a motorist died in a two-vehicle collision linked to road rage on Interstate 15 Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened at 8:20 p.m. on southbound I-15 near Winchester Road in Temecula.

Officer Mike Lassig said that the victim, a 47-year-old man from Perris, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu when he got into an argument with the driver of a Lexus GS450h. Officer Lassig did not say what the argument was about.

According to Lassig, the two drivers were racing each other and hitting each other’s cars until they both lost control of their cars.

The Malibu hit the wall in the middle of the road, rolled at least once, and came to rest on its wheels in the second lane.

Lassig said that the driver of the Malibu wasn’t wearing his safety belt, so he was thrown out of the car onto the freeway and suffered terrible injuries. He was taken to the Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar by paramedics, but he died there not long after.

Lassig said that the Lexus went out of control in the fast lane and stopped. The second driver, a 38-year-old man from San Diego, did not try to get away. He was not hurt in any way. There was no sign that he was drunk. There were no other cars involved.

Lassig said that CHP investigators are working with staff from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office to look at what led up to the fatal crash and decide if any charges should be brought.
