[08-24-2023] 23-Year-Old Man Killed, 61-Year-Old Man Injured Following Two-Vehicle Collision in San MarcosA 23-year-old Fallbrook man was killed, while a 61-year-old Murrieta man was injured after a two-vehicle collision in San Marcos on Thursday morning, August 24, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Deer Springs Road, west of Mesa Rock Road, around 5:33 a.m.

The Fallbrook man was driving a silver BMW 330ci east on Deer Springs, while the Murrieta man in a gray Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on the same road.

The BMW drove over the solid double yellow lines into the path of the Toyota, resulting in a collision between the two. An investigation is underway to determine why the BMW crossed over to the opposite lane.

San Marcos Fire Department paramedics pronounced the 23-year-old man dead at the scene, while the Toyota driver sustained major injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be a factor in this incident.

No information was released regarding the victim’s identities.
