Pedestrian Accident Statistics
Pedestrians are more susceptible to traffic hazards than people driving their cars. In contrast to those in automobiles, who are protected by airbags and seatbelts, pedestrians have no such safety features.
The number of pedestrian fatalities in the US has significantly increased. Pedestrian fatalities rose by 27% between 2007 and 2016, while other traffic-related fatalities fell by 14%.
In California, numerous accidents result in pedestrian injuries and a few yearly fatalities. Drivers who are inattentive, speeding, drunk, or distracted are often to blame for pedestrian accidents. They fail to drive in the right direction and disobey traffic laws.
The driver’s negligence primarily brought on these collisions. Drivers who are intoxicated are unable to yield to pedestrians.
