A 52-year-old rider was hit and killed after a hit-and-run accident in Rolando on Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2022.
The accident happened around 2:55 p.m. northbound on College Avenue.
The man eventually died after suffering from severe injuries.
According to local authorities, the woman involved was 52 years old and was taken into custody on Friday.
She was driving her Cadillac SRX when she made an unsafe turn, colliding with the bicyclist in front of her vehicle.
The driver departed the scene but returned about an hour later and was detained by police on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
Police claim that drunk driving had nothing to do with the collision.
The department’s Traffic Division is looking into the collision.
