Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Every year, an alarming number of people in California are killed in accidents involving a single car.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that in California, 62% of fatal car accidents involve only one car. If you plan on driving in California, it’s important to keep in mind a few things that could put you in danger.

Accidents involving a single car can happen for many reasons. An off-the-road accident, also known as a runaway vehicle, can occur if the driver is traveling too quickly or makes sharp turns on a slippery road. Branches and other debris thrown from passing trucks littering the road can be a cause of an accident.

Even if the carelessness of the other driver caused the accident, your insurance company might still reduce your payout because of the policy’s comprehensive coverage plan.
