Authorities say that three people were killed, one of whom was a bicyclist in a series of shootings and a bicycle collision in west Oakland on Friday night, August 26, 2022.
The crash occurred just after 7:15 p.m. in the 2800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
ShotSpotter, which uses acoustic sensors to detect gunshots, alerted police to the scene, according to a statement from the Oakland Police Department.
The Officers discovered a bicyclist hit by a car and two men with multiple gunshot wounds. The department reported that all three were declared dead at the scene.
There were also two shootings, Oakland Police Chief Leronne Armstrong told reporters on the scene Friday night.
According to Armstrong, after the second shooting, one of the shooters attempted to flee the scene but later appeared to have struck the bicyclist with his vehicle.
According to local news, the two shootings were connected.
It was reported that as a man was being shot, his friends or acquaintances began firing at the attacker.
According to the department, both the shooting and the crash’s circumstances are being investigated.
The department stated that the victims’ identities had not been disclosed while notifying their families.

Many motorists disregard the rights of cyclists and drive dangerously close to them. The results could be serious injury or even fatality.
