[08-27-2022] Two Bakersfield Police Officers Injured in Crash During Pursuit in BakersfieldAccording to the Bakersfield Police Department, two officers were hurt after following a pursuit in a stolen vehicle where they crashed in Bakersfield Saturday morning, August 27, 2022.

The crash occurred at around 11:45 a.m. officers located a stolen vehicle in the 300 block of South Union Avenue.

When police tried to stop the driver, the driver led them on a chase. From Union Avenue, where the officers lost control, the chase continued on the eastbound on-ramp to Highway 58.

The patrol car crashed into a tree, hurting both the driver and the passenger inside.

Both were taken to the hospital. The driver’s injuries were moderate, while the passengers were minor.

The damage to the patrol car was so bad that the officer was stuck in the driver’s seat. The Bakersfield Fire Department and the Kern County Fire Department had to pull him out.

The suspect’s car was left on the side of the road, and the California Highway Patrol found it. The suspect, however, is still on the run.

The Bakersfield Police Department’s Motor Collision Investigation Team went to the scene and took over the investigation.

After the accident, the Highway 58 eastbound on-ramp was closed for about two hours.
