[08-29-2022] Los Angeles County, CA – Pedestrian Fatally Struck and Driver Critically Injured in a Freeway Crash

A pedestrian was fatally struck, and the driver who hit him was seriously injured in Granda Hills on Monday, August 29, 2022.

California Highway Patrol officers were called to check on a man wandering on the freeway.

Officers arrived to discover a male pedestrian in the street and the driver of the car wounded after losing control and striking a Caltrans sign.

The male pedestrian was declared dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

The vehicle’s driver, who hit the pedestrian, was sent to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Officers suspect the motorist struck the man and then lost control, driving into the construction sign.

The two right lanes will be closed for an undetermined time for the investigation.
