[08-30-2022] Motorcyclist Dead in Two-Vehicle Head-On Crash in Rural ButteAccording to the California Highway Patrol, a 47-year-old motorcyclist from Chico sustained fatal injuries following a head-on crash in the rural area of Butte Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 7:35 p.m. on northbound Neal.

They discovered that a 2022 Harley-Davidson and a 2021 BMW SUV were involved in the accident.

The CHP said that the motorcyclist was taking a right turn on northbound Neal Road and drifted into the southbound lane for reasons still being looked into.

The BMW SUV was in the southbound lane and hit the motorcyclist head-on.

The CHP said that the accident threw the motorcyclist off his bike.

The motorcyclist had severe injuries and was later pronounced dead at the Enloe Medical Center.

The BMW’s passenger also got very hurt in the crash and had to be taken to Enloe for treatment. Two other people in the BMW were also injured, but not too severely.

The CHP said they are still looking into what caused the crash and have not ruled out distracted driving or driving under the influence.

The motorcyclist’s name won’t be known until more information comes out.
