[09-03-2022] Alameda County, CA - Pedestrian Killed After Getting Struck in Collision With Vehicle in OaklandAccording to the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 580 in Oakland Saturday evening, September 3, 2022.

According to Karina Oseguera, a Highway Patrol spokeswoman, the crash transpired at about 9:15 p.m. on the westbound lanes of I-580, just west of Highway 24.

Due to the need to notify the deceased person’s next of kin, the name of the person killed has not been made public.

According to Oseguera, it seemed as though nobody inside the vehicle that had hit the pedestrian had sustained any injuries.

A scant amount of additional information regarding the crash has been made public. The collision resulted in the temporary closing of Interstate 580; however, the freeway has since reopened to traffic.

The investigators are still trying to determine what caused the collision.
