[09-03-2022] Fresno County, CA - Two People Died After a DUI Crash in FresnoTwo people died after a fatal two-vehicle collision in Fresno early Saturday morning, September 3, 2022.

The collision happened around 6 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 99, near Mckinley Avenue.

The passenger in the Mitsubishi was a 19-year-old Mendota woman; the driver’s identity is unknown.

According to investigators, a black 2015 Genesis and a red 2001 Mitsubishi collided, causing both vehicles to slide down the embankment.

The Mitsubishi struck a tree, smashed it, and got tangled up in the trunk. The Genesis carried on and passed through a barbed-wire fence before stopping in a field.

According to police, the driver of the Genesis sustained injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, while both people inside the Mitsubishi were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Genesis was a 21-year-old Fresno man who was detained on suspicion of felony DUI causing death.
