DUI Accident Statistics
Walking in the street is risky for anyone, pedestrians in particular. With no protections in place, they are the most vulnerable.
Pedestrian deaths and injuries in the United States have risen dramatically in recent years. Between 2007 and 2016, there was a 27% increase in pedestrian fatalities despite a 14% decline in traffic fatalities.
It makes no difference whether a driver’s impairment was the result of alcohol or drugs; both are illegal. It is unfortunate that alcohol use while driving is a major contributor to traffic fatalities in the United States.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that approximately 30 people per day are killed in drunk driving-related accidents. A third of all traffic deaths in the United States can be attributed to drunk drivers.
