[09-05-2022] Butte County, CA - 77-Year-Old Woman Died After A Man Runs Red Light on Highway 99According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 77-year-old woman died in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 99 on Monday, September 5, 2022.

Butte County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Barbara H. of Brownsville.

The crash occurred at about 12:20 p.m. at the Highway 162 intersection.

A 37-year-old Yuba City man was traveling northbound on Highway 99 in a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado. The man ran a red light and collided with the driver’s side of a 2011 Kia.

According to the CHP, the Chevrolet Colorado flipped over and came to rest on its roof west of Highway 99.

The Kia was pushed north and collided with two other automobiles in the southbound lane of Highway 99, which were stopped at a red light.

The Kia’s driver was a 75-year-old man from Oroville. According to the CHP, a minor passenger in the Kia received moderate injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado sustained serious injuries, while a child passenger received minor injuries.

According to the CHP, the collision is being investigated.

Drugs are believed to have been a factor in the crash.
