We’ve all heard that drinking and driving not only gets you in trouble with the law but also puts you and every other motorist on the road at a higher chance of being involved in an accident. Every day, people are killed or injured in accidents that involve drunk drivers. In many cases, these accidents could have been prevented if the drivers had not been drinking.
One of the biggest dangers of drunk driving is that it increases the risk of serious injury or death. Drivers intoxicated by alcohol are more likely to make dangerous decisions behind the wheel and are less able to react quickly to unexpected situations.
Drunk drivers are responsible for around 30% of all traffic fatalities in the United States. About 10,500 people have died in drunk-driving accidents per year for the past ten years. Driving under the influence is risky. However, it continues to happen throughout the United States.
