Car Accident Statistics

Many car accidents occur during work. These accidents are often caused by driver error, such as speeding or failing to obey traffic laws. Other times, the accident may be due to faulty equipment or a malfunctioning automobile. Whatever the cause, these accidents can result in serious injury or death.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 4,761 fatal automobile accidents involving large trucks in the United States in 2018. This represents a slight increase from 2017, with 4,668 fatal accidents.

Despite the decline, car accidents still account for many yearly fatalities. This highlights the need for continued efforts to improve truck safety and reduce accidents.

There are a few things that employers need to be aware of. Drivers can be held liable for accidents occurring while on the job. This means that employers can be held responsible for accidents resulting from the driver’s negligence.

Employers should ensure that their drivers are properly trained to operate cars. Drivers who are not prepared may be more likely to cause an accident. Employers should also ensure that their vehicles are properly maintained. If a car is not in good condition, it may be more likely to cause an accident.

Finally, employers should create a safety plan for their drivers. This plan should include things like how to handle dangerous situations and how to avoid accidents. By creating a safety plan, employers can help reduce the risk of truck accidents during work.
