[09-07-2022] Sacramento County, CA - Two-Vehicle Collision Kills One Highway Worker, Another Injured on Interstate 5According to the California Highway Patrol, one highway worker died, and another was critically injured after they were involved in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 in Sacramento Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

According to CHP, the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. along northbound I-5 near Sutterville Road.

The two male workers were installing cones along the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Sutterville Road when a minivan suddenly swerved and collided with their truck.

According to the CHP, the driver and passenger of the minivan are being cooperative with the officers who are on the scene.

It is unknown whether the driver was speeding at the time of the accident; however, it is not believed that alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

According to the California Highway Patrol, these highway workers were employees of Construction Sign Incorporated, which Caltrans contracted.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
