One person died and another suffered severe injuries after a single-vehicle collision between a sedan and a telephone post at an intersection in Riverside on Thursday morning, September 8, 2022.
The collision, which happened around 7:30 a.m., took place at Audrey Avenue and Jackson Street, according to the Riverside Police Department.
According to Sgt. Emilio Angulo, the driver of a 2000 Honda Accord traveling south on Jackson “at a high rate of speed,” lost control, veered off the road, and collided with the pole. She was only identified as a 19-year-old Riverside woman.
Within a short period, paramedics arrived at the scene. They discovered the driver in critical condition while her passenger, a Riverside man only identified as her passenger, was critically hurt, according to Angulo.
He stated that the woman passed away shortly after arriving at Riverside Community Hospital with the other victim.
The man’s health was stable, and he anticipated his survival.
