[09-09-2022] Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Vehicle While Walking on Interstate 8According to the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian man was struck and killed by an SUV while walking in the lanes of eastbound Interstate 8 Friday, September 9, 2022.

The collision transpired around 8:00 p.m. on the east of Mission Center Road.

Officer Jesse Matias of the California Highway Patrol has reported that the pedestrian was hit by a silver Nissan SUV driven by a San Diego woman who is 25 years old.

The driver stayed put at the scene of the accident. Matias stated that the results of a toxicology report were still awaited from the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.

The California Highway Patrol was still investigating the cause of the accident and the sequence of events that led up to it.

It was decided not to release the deceased man’s name until his next of kin had been notified.
