[09-09-2022] DUI Woman Suspect in Hit-And-Run Collision in CapitolaAccording to the authorities, a DUI driver was a suspect in nine counts of hit-and-run in the city’s Explorer neighborhood in Santa Cruz on September 9, 2022.

The hit-and-run collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. near Columbus Drive and Elinor Street.

A 43-year-old woman from Capitola was arrested over the weekend after allegedly crashing a pickup truck into nine parked cars while drunk, losing control, and leading police on a slow-speed chase.

He said that the sent officers quickly found a white pickup truck that matched the description of the reported vehicle and tried to pull it over. On the other hand, the driver kept going up to about 10 mph.

Police followed the car onto the Kennedy Drive frontage road and through a trailer park off Plum Street. There, the car’s tire rim got caught on a grate, ripping off the front tire, as Dally explained.

According to the police department, the California Highway Patrol and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office helped.
