Fatal Bicycle Accident Statistics

Bikes are treated the same as cars in the state of California. When riding a bike, you’re considered to be operating a motor vehicle and subject to all the same rules that apply to drivers. Drivers in this predicament are obligated to stop at red lights and position themselves to the right of the road at all times.

The rights of cyclists are routinely disregarded, and many drivers get dangerously close to them. The end result may be catastrophic injury or even death.

California has the highest rate of bicycle fatalities in the United States. It’s to be expected that vehicles on the road and pedestrians in cities will occasionally collide. Between 2016 and 2018, 455 bicyclists lost their lives in California.
