[09-11-2022] Two CHP Officers Injured in Suspected DUI Crash on Interstate 80A suspected drunk driver struck two California Highway Patrol officers’ vehicles, causing injuries to both of them in Solano on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

The crash occurred on Sunday morning on the shoulder of I-80 in the westbound direction, east of American Canyon Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol Solano, the officers were conducting an enforcement stop early on the shoulder of I-80.

The CHP further stated that an SUV traveling on the right shoulder struck the officers’ vehicle as it was standing outside, causing the SUV to crash into the officers.

After that, the officers were taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention for their wounds, according to the CHP.

The accident left one officer with a concussion and the other with a broken leg.

The SUV’s driver was detained for a DUI, claims the CHP, after they reported their injuries.

According to the CHP, the original driver who the officers had stopped was unharmed.
